WSCSC OPEN MEETING, Monday 29th August, Emerald Club, 8pm
In attendance
Phil Kelly
Peter Willis
Karl McAuley
John Parsons
Roy Simpson
Apologies
Eddie Drummond
Attendance
Phil expressed his annoyance at the lack of numbers and the lack of apologies
from the missing committee men.
He did appreciate, in hindsight, a bank holiday Monday was not the best of dates,
but in his defence this was the deadline day for names and monies for the proposed
club trip.
Newsletter
Phil thanked Peter and (himself) for the effort put into producing and sending
out over 70 newsletters, which took two nights to complete. Phil explained what
an arduous task the first newsletter was and this was due to the fact everyone
gets a newsletter and a renewal form, as opposed to the normal way when quite
a few members would receive the newsletter via email.
Memberships / next newsletter
Phil explained that memberships were up to 45, with many still to come from
last year’s hard-core members and from fellow committee men. Phil asked
for more help from fellow committee people, in helping with the next newsletter.
Central, South West and Wales Association
Our own supporters club were host to the newly named Central, Southwest and
Wales Association of Celtic supporters clubs. Phil was extremely disappointed
by the lack of our own committee in attendance, but thanked Peter, Roy and Joe
for flying the flag. Again, the bank holiday weekend probably did not help.
Five clubs were in attendance and the main discussion was the ability, as an
association, to order tickets for all away Celtic games, which included the
previous weeks game at Ibrox. Hopefully this may also be the case for any home
games v Rangers.
Treasurer report
John said at present we had £2,700 in the bank. Phil suggested the club
shirts, of which a number are still left, should have been put on the end of
season balance sheet, as club assets. If any left come next season, this will
be looked at again.
Next Club trip
At present we have around 16 people wishing to go on trip. This would mean running
the bus at a loss of around £350.
It was stated with so much money sitting in the bank the club could stand this
loss, and to enable the members who wanted to go to the game to actually go
to the game via our supporters club, which, as was stated was why the club was
started. A vote was taken and all voted in favour of the trip going ahead. It
is hoped a few more people may decide to travel nearer to the game to reduce
the loss the club may face.
