1. Next Club Trip
The next match targeted for a club trip is Celtic Vs Kilmarnock on the weekend of the 12th or 13th of April. The match will be played on Sunday 13th April if we are successful in progressing to the semi-finals of the UEFA cup, otherwise the match will take place on Saturday 12th. The club intends to run a bus to this game regardless of which day it is played.
There has already been quite a lot of interest in tickets for this match, some of which has come from non-members of the club. In order to ensure priority is given to members, those wishing to travel should contact John Parsons with a deposit ASAP. After which, non-members will be entitled to apply for those tickets that are left.
2. Newsletter
As Peter Willis was unavailable Andy Sutherland agreed to put together this months newsletter. This is to go out ASAP in order to get maximum response for the forthcoming club trip.
3. New Home
The search for a new base for the club goes on. Phil has written to the Emerald club about the matter and they are prepared to meet with us and discuss possible arrangements. There is also a possibility that we could go back to Seamus O’Donnells , they are willing to discuss things further in the summer. Anyone with alternative venues or ideas should approach the committee.
4. New Flags
Many thanks go to Steve Thornton who has done a marvellous job sorting out 2 club flags. However, the flag was not allowed into the ground at the Celtic V Liverpool game and Phil may write to Celtic to complain.
5. End of Season Function
Any ideas for the clubs end of season function should be forwarded to the committee. Options are somewhat limited as we do not know if the club will have a home by then. The committee discussed the idea of going ten pin bowling and will make further arrangements nearer the time.
6. Club Season books
The time is drawing near for the club to renew its 2 season books if we want to keep them for another season. If we choose to renew there is also a possibility of upgrading the tickets to include Old Firm tickets. The committee discussed the issue of whether to renew the books. Some members feel that they are a valuable club asset and additional source of tickets for sought after matches. However, others feel that they are not being utilised enough to warrant the expense. The matter was debated but no firm decision has yet been reached. It was suggested that if the season books were exchanged to include Rangers tickets then these could possibly be raffled of within the club to recoup some of the money spent on the tickets.
7. AOB
a) Stoke CSC are holding a function on 17th May. It was felt that WSCSC should make an effort to support Stoke at this function. Dependent on numbers interested in going transport could be arranged.
b) A collection was taken at the New Inns at the Old Firm
game in memory of Brendan Colton. A total of £125 was donated.
